I went to give my friend a gift today,
a friendly gift of yellow, red and blue.
My friend, you see, was feeling kind of gray,
so color seemed a friendly thing to do.
She said, “I like this yellow, bright and sweet;
it seems to want to spread itself around.
And red! You read my mind. So bold and neat,
like something that was lost but now is found.”
“This blue,” she cried and held it in the air,
“is light and soft; it makes a happy noise.”
So yellow, red and blue were everywhere;
my friend had filled her world with all their joys.
Together we enjoyed this splendid scene,
then noticed orange, purple, and some green.
